cigarette lighter
My cigarette lighter blew out in my car, a pen exploded in my ash tray and shorted out the wiring for the cigarette lighter. does any one know if it is ok just to run a wire straight to the battery? i want to use it to plug in my cellphone and other things..
thanks |

This is possible, i'm sure but it seems as though you might want to wire in a fuse of some sort to prevent shorting out...If you wanted to take time with this matter, and if you're going to end up running wire in the first place; i suggest just getting a new cigarette lighter module: the lighter itself and the recepticle. If your old one shorted out, be sure to replace the fuse going to the cigarette lighter circuit in your fuse box (if its blown )and If you replace the whole unit, you'll be problem free.
