Question Starts cold, won't start after been running

We have a 1988 Chevy truck 3/4 ton 4wd. The problem that we are having is that after it has been running going down the road, stop and get some gas, it won't start back up no turn over nothing like the battery is dead. The battery isn't dead, has a brand new starter, New distributor and all the insides. new battery cable. Nothing shows being wrong when the scanner is hooked up. Neutral saftey switch has been checked out. I am running out of options to replace and check, just wondering if anybody has had this problem.
Thank you.

Make sure the starter heat shield was re-installed with the new starter. The heat from the exhaust can make the solenoid not work until it cools down.

the best way to narrow down the bad guy is with head lights on when cranking, do the lights dim. if so bad connection to ground or battery fails under load need load test to be sure battery is good.if no clicking starter solenoid and starter bad with no lights dimming. if this happens hit starter with hammer with key to crank position then if it starts you have a new defective starter. if it were summer, heat shield missing could cause simular problem.........i notice you changed some uncommon parts like wiring did you have this start problem before you replaced these items? it is possible wiring is defective or connections, may need meter.

We will check both of these things, Thank you! The reson we changed some uncommon parts was that it would turn over and not crank. After we got that taken care of we started having the existing problem.
