Dash Guage problems
Bought my grandson a 85 Monty Carlo and all the guages will not work. Fuse is good and I'm thinking it my be the voltage regulator for the guages. I am unable to locate it and the dealer says its under the dash. Any help out there?
Also the speedo doesn't work, But I am unable to disconect it at the dash as I can't get my hand back there, the car has cruse control. |

Re: Dash Guage problems
I can't really help ya out with the location of the voltage regulator, but I do know that you also might want to check the quality of the connection to the printed circuit behind the gauge pod. They're notorious for developing bad connections after a while, for instance, all the gauge lights in my 86 no longer function.
To get the speedometer out (and, in turn, the gauge cluster) you could disconnect the cable from the transmission. This would give you enough slack to pull the speedo out a bit, and then you could remove the clip holding the cable on the speedo. Hope that helps a little. |
