Re: tranny problem

Certain LeBarons are known for their Tranny problems. I'm guessing you have a 3.0L engine? The problem is that certain seals in the tranny wear away awfully quick, causing quick wearing away of the tranny. This is what I heard is common, it may not be the case. I would take it to your mechanic or try and find an honost one, most of the Baron tranny fixes can be done with a fix, not a replacment or rebuild. Just remember: you got it free for a reason.

Re: tranny problem

Ahhh... the infamous A604 transmission. An acquired taste. Known to be one of the most smoothest shifting and most troublesome transmissions. Hey, I'm lucky, my dad is a transmission mechanic. The one thing above all else I would recommend is: DO NOT get a used transmission. That might cause you more pain and cost you more money in the end anyway. Unless, of course, you get a transmission from a wrecked car and the owner of the car absolutely assures you that it works properly. Otherwise, repairing a transmission is not a bad price to pay for an otherwise free car. You don't live around Chicago do you? Because I bet we can beat anyone else's price.
