AR 767s

I'm planning on picking up some AR 767 steel rims in the near future and have a question concerning the backspacing. With a 3" suspension lift, will the 4.75 backspacing cause excessive rubbing when running 32" Swamper TSLs? I want to go ahead and install the wheels prior to my installation of a 2" body lift. However, if the wheels sans body lift will cause a great amount of rubbing when wheeling I'll just hold off until my body lift goes on. Any thoughts? Thanks

FSRBIKER is one of the guys to talk to about this, he went through hell picking out his Rockcrawler rims to make sure they had the correct backspacing.

Thanks for the help, I'll talk to FSR and see what he thinks. Its really not that imperative that I install the wheels prior to the body lift. However, AC has been stalling a bit on my kit (I do understand this is a special order though) and I'd like to go ahead and mount the wheels.

No offense at all to you guys, but why buy a kit when you can make a 2" body lift for like $120 in parts? Goth could tell you exactly what to go buy since SLR had to have him trial and error a couple different bolt lengths, etc. Shoot him an email.

I thought about it real hard since I have done that with a friend's jeep (on his the lift cost came to just under $70.00) but the price I got on the one from AC was perfect and I will not have to do any trial and error (knocking on wood)

I too was on the verge of building a kit. I actually had a supplier of 2" lift blocks and found a supplier of the very rare metric bolts needed. However, when I did the math, building one yourself ended up costing more. Last time I checked with AC though, they were still waiting on some of the metric bolts needed so we'll see....

Forgot to add, that I did speak with goth at length on this matter. I credit him for pointing me in the right direction in terms of both lift blocks and hardware. However, the hardware involved is hard to come by, when I finally found a place that could order the bolts needed, the price was outrageous. The only reason I called AC was to inquire about their supplier of the metric bolts they use in their 3" kit. Nissan Mike called me back, offered me a complete 2" kit at good price so I went with it. Sorry If this all sounds defensive, my initial reaction would also have been to suggest building your own kit.

ATH- What's the latest you've heard from AC? I called last week and was told it would only be a few more days.

Thanks

Everything was ready just waiting on the instructions to be done. When I ordered mine I was told middle of the month, so far so good it looks like ;-)

BTW, speaking of doing it yourself

I posted this on the MAXC mailing list a couple of months ago but I realize I forgot to put it out on any of the boards.

I received a lot of e-mail from people asking about what it takes to mildly body lift an X, so I put this page together as sort of a FAQ.

Note that if you somehow manage to do something stupid with the information and destroy people, property, or pride, it's not my fault.

ATH & Dog -

Gotcha. I figured you guys were thinking through it and deciding on whether to DIY or not. Glad you guys talked to Goth about it, IMO he's the best guy to ask.

Goth - nice write-up dude!

Maddog I assume you are talking about TSL radials, if so the 32" is 10.5" wide which is basically the same width as stock so with just the suspensison lift you probably will not rub.(Isn't this what Will is running?) I have the 767 with the 4.75" backspacing(15x8) and run 32x11.5 SSR's and have no rubbing on the torsion bar anchor like Vikram does with the stock wheels and the suspension lift/body lift...I also have a 3" body lift and do not have any rubbing in the rear...not sure if Vikram had the extra inch if he would rub in back or not. My plan was to buy 15x8's with 4.5" backspacing and run 33x12.5 SSR's but I could not get the wheels custom made before I left for Colorado, this combination I feel would not rub either but i am not sure...you would need a 3" body lift to do it though. You should not experience any rubbing running those wheels and the 3+2 lifts.

Todd,
Thanks for the help. I just got word from AC concerning my 2" body lift and I should be installing it in the next couple weeks. I just sent you an e-mail regarding the ARB bracket as well as a few other EOE items.
