Misfire - Oil in cyl, above spark plug
2003 Cadillac CTS 3.2 V6
Okay, so I have a BAD misfire, I take the valve cover cap off, and theres oil in the cylinder around the spark plug coil and the spark plug, the coil also had a little corrosion on it.. (the oil wasnt pooled up or anything but it was obviously leaking) I replaced the Spark Plug Coil and the Valve Cover... This fixed it temporarily but the next day the miss was back, So I am about to take the car to a dealer, to change the valve cover again (maybe i didnt get it fitted correctly or something) before I do does anyone have any ideas as to alternative causes for this misfire? New Spark Plug Coil (I Installed) New Spark Plugs New Gasket (I Installed) Right Rear Cylinder is the One Misfiring That is to say Passenger Side Closest to the Firewall Like I said maybe I didnt get the Valve Cover Gasket Sealed correctly |

Re: Misfire - Oil in cyl, above spark plug
Welcome to AF, normally a little oil around the plug will not cause a misfire, additional diagnosis is in order here, see what they come up with.
