PLEASE help me, urgent
I am sorry this is so long, but please read it and help me.
Well, I am having some really wierd problems with my 91 civic si. A couple months ago I adjusted my idle and to do so you have to disconnect the Electronic Air Control Valve (EACV from here on). When I was all done and went for a ride, the idle would bounce from 1000rpm to 1500 rpm. When I got back home I pulled the hazard fuse to reset the ECU and it didn't do it anymore. Needless to say I was happy and gave it no more thought. However, today, I decided to check my O2 sensor because I have been getting kinda poor gas mileage. So I reset the ECU then started the car. It was doing the idle bounce thing again!!! So I turned it back off and disconnected the EACV. It didn't do it while the EACV is disconnected but the car bucks and can't really drive that way. I plugged the EACV back in and it still did it, reset the ECU still did it. I have reset the ECU numerous times and tinkered around as much as I could think of and it is still doing it . I decided to listen to the injectors (you can put a screw-driver against the body of the injector and put your ear against the handle to hear if it is firing or not) and they didn't fire while the idle dropped (from 1500-1000) but came back online when the idle came back up (1000-1500) I am totally at a loss. Please offer any help or totally off the cuff ideas you can think of.Thanks so much for bearing with me |

I also had to reset the base idle on my d16 (the screw at 12:00 on top of the intake) and mines fine ...thank god but i dont know why you unplugged the IACV those are kind of touchy and i wouldn't mess with it.
you can try taking the iacv off yer intake and spraying it out with carb cleaner if its carboned up, check the passage in the intake also, but first try to adjust the idle again without disconnecting anything, try clockwise SIBLUE99 |

are you thinking of the egr, that gets carboned up. The EACV is the cylinder thing on the back of the intake manifold. Also, I don't think it has anything to do with my base idle setting, it is an engine management problem, but maybe if the eacv is gummed up (I don't think it should be, but it could be) then cleaning it might help. Anymore ideas would be great. Has anybody ever experienced this?
