Looking to break in my new X!

Hey, I'm new to this site (my first post), I've spent the last couple of weeks just reading the posts and checking out some of the cool pics.

I've noticed that there is a serious lack of Canadian folks that are around here. I live in North Vancouver and have only seen you and a couple of others that are from BC.

One of the posts I read, there was talk of a place in Coquitlam that I could go for some easy, but 4x4 worthy trails to check out. I haven't got the time right now to get up into the mountains, but I want to go spend a half a day somewhere to get the new truck dirty!

Any suggestions for some locals would be greatly appreciated.

This forum so far has provided me with a ton of enjoyment and information, I have a feeling I will be spending alot more time here!

Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up

Welcome to the board. There are two Vancouver members on this board. Drop a message to Xlax: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...&threadid=6656

We're also planning a PNWX trip in Washington that you might be interested in on the 20th and 21st.

I'm sure you will get some response from locals in your area.

I'm from Canada as well, but I too live on the East Coast. Mississauga, Ontario to be exact.

Hey Mojo-3, I'm the other Canadian here. There are tons of trails around Coquitlam (Vedder Mountain), Lake Harrison (both sides), and Stave Lake (again, both sides). There's also a mud pit in PoCo, a whole whack of trails up Eagle Ridge in Coquitlam. Not to mention the trails going North around Squamish, Whistler, further up into Pemberton. You can literally go offroad all the way N from Harrison to Pemberton, or NE from Harrison to the Nahatlatch / Boston Bar. You can even double back from Squamish to end up at the top of Indian Arm.

We're blessed with hundreds of choices around here, and lots of great camping sites to boot.

I'm out there exploring pretty much every weekend, sometimes I manage to drag Xlax along. This Saturday I'll be doing more of the same, heading up Vedder Mountain for the first time. I picked up a great book of maps/trails ... can't remember the title but I've seen them at some checkout lines at London Drugs. Backroad Maps or something.

If you're looking for some half useable maps, there are a bunch on my ftp server that I downloaded from our Ministry of Forestry, help yourself: ftp://ftp.superjens.com (login anonymous)

If you're bored this Saturday, I'd be happy to show you some trails. Send me email [email protected]

Jens

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have spent a lot of time in the trails around Squamish, (I'm a former Toyota 4X4 owner) up at Hut lake and lots of exploring on trails up to the Indian Arm backroad and Squamish river. I guess because of my location I always seem to go that way instead of towards Harrison.

Unfortunately I am booked solid this weekend, but it would be great to get out sometime with some fellow X owners. I'll keep my eyes open to trips and events that are happening.

I seem to remember there was a trial up by the Westwood Plateau Golf course, not too hard but requires 4x4, does that sound right?

Thanks again for all the info superjens, we'll have to get together soon.

Is the Westwood Plateau Golf course up on the hill in Coquitlam, along Johnson St next to the Coquilam Mall? If so, that's the Eagle Ridge trails. Doomed to be closed, according to the guys at bc4x4.com. Too many stolen vehicles are getting dumped up there, and the residents and golf club are getting tired of it.

Let me know when you want some company, like I said I'm out there somewhere almost every weekend. I haven't been to Hut Lake yet, you haven't been further East yet. Sounds like we have two weekends worth of wheeling to do!
