Got My D16Z6... Need Help!!

Ok, yesterday I pickup up my D16 from a guy out of the recycler. The engine & tranny look great, but no exhaust manifold. I got everything else... dist., intake a manifold, axels, shift linkage...etc. he one off my Dx motor has a strped bolt. I tried to get one from the junk yard and as I was taking off bolt... the ones on the bottom... 1 would always strip. I was thinking... should I just get an after market header?? Will I pass smog in Cali?? Please let me know. What other stock options do I have....(cheaper than buying an aftermarket header??)

PS: I'm better off using my cable tranny than the hydro one it came w/ ....right??

Any D series manifold will work.

Also, you cannot use the hydro tranny, without a lot of freaking work. So just use the cable trans.

Great... thanks for advice. Now since any D series manifold will work. Then any D series header from 92-99 will work? I found a good deal on a Greddy header from a 96-00 civic EX. Just checking in here before I make an offer.

I would stick with 88/91 d series, rather than jump to a 96+ header.

Kool... so it will work huh?! Great, I was gonna redo all the exhaust from the manifold (header) back so I'm not too concerned about the bottom bolting up. As far as the top... it should bolt up the same right? Can I use the same exhaust manifold gasket, cuz I just bought a new one.

when i put my d16z6 in my hatch, i used a d16z6 DC sports header. it bolts right up to the stock exhaust. Im guessing that any d series manifold/header will bolt right up to the engine as well as the exhaust..

arent hondas great

What about placement of 02 sensors, and the lenght of the midpipe?

Yeah... I know. Well.... I'll try it and let you know. I'll pre-test and if not. Then I'll get a stock manifold and try again.
