si ecu

after reading something ami posted about putting mpfi and si ecu in a dx for a cheaper mod before getting an engine swap, i decided thats what i wanted to do, so i found both but havent ordered the si ecu yet. but i was at the races last night and my friend who is sorta a 4thgen. expert/owner told my boyfriend that si ecu will not work if i hook it up to my dx, that the car wont even start? did i miss something? i know for sure i read the post right, is my friend wrong? help me out guys

the pm6 Si ecu will not just plug in and play. that is right. however, you get the 88-91 Si distributor & convert to MPFI and it's good to go.

you will need the resistor box and intake mani for the conversion as jeef mentioned. all the parts for the conversion will run $150-200 and the dizzy around $60.

check out: http://www.4thgenerationcivic.com/ho...conversion.htm i got that info out of Sport Compact.

if there is anything i can help with...please feel free to e-mail me [email protected] :jump:

I've done a few of them and they are rather easy........though the first one was a bitch.............If I were you I wouldn't use the pm6 I'd use the pg7....which is the 89 ls integra ecu...........I have EVERYTHING including sohc vtec mini-me motor going up for sale soon..........I'm doing a non obd to obd 1 conversion very soon.........

i have a d16y8 sohc vtec

don't use the teg ecu. get a 92-95 p28 ECU. then you can get a wiring conversion harness....extend 8 wires and it's plug n' play.

let us know how it goes

Before you do anything, check out this site:
http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/

They are super reliable, and accurate on everything. I used their diagrams and stuff when I wend from DPFI to MPFI for my ZC swap. These guys have done their research and won't lead you astray. I would have to back Ami up and say that you should not use the Teg ecu with the SOHC Vtec motors.

actually my friend recommended i do a 96 or a 97 sohc vtec swap over a 5th gen sohc vtec swap. what do u guys think? i appreciate and take into consideration your guys input just as much, i dont post much but i look around a lot and i know most you guys have credibility. does the 5th gen. drop right in w/o new mounts? Ami you have sohc vtec? how do u like it, do u recommend it?

your stock mounts work fine and dandy.

i have the d16y8. it was easy because i have a Si and already had MPFI. i say the 5th gen might be easier because it's fuel injectors run the same impedance (sp?) as the 4th gen. in the d16y8 (96-00 Civic EX) they lowered the impedance again. people have been doing the d16z6 (92-95 Si/EX) swap for many years. i know many sites with swap info. swapping in the d16y8 is fairly new concept. i don't know if i have even seen a site addressing the MPFI part of the converion when swapping the y8 into a DX.

i say check out the z6 because the installation process is known. i'd hate you to get a y8 and get lost in some shady areas.

do i like it? well, i'm all about the d series. i liked my d16a6. when it had troubles it was time for something new. i wasn't out looking to break speed records with that said, i love the y8. since you'll be starting with a d15....you'll probably like it too. i get the feeling you're looking for more but don't expect 12's
