Angry Crack in the head... $1000 to fix....

Well the head gasket is gone and possibly there is a crack in the head. So $1000 for my mechanic to fix it. So now what? Most places around here want $2000 for a zc swap.

Don't do that yet!!

I have a source for ZC motors at $650 a whack, and you should be able to get that installed for only that much again. I can also get you a new cylinder head for your existing motor for $about $250. If you want to do that, send me a pm. you should be able to find comparable prices out there on the information superdragstrip.

Oh, there is no way I'd pay $1000 to get the head fixed on the stock dx motor.

They said that it could just be the head gasket but they'd have to send away the head to have it looked at. So will a head gasket fix the problem? For how long?

Oh ya, $2000 for the zc swap is everything installed with a 3 month waranty(sp) Is that a good price? Most places are saying $1300cdn-$1500cdn just for the engine.

whoa shit. 1300-1500 for a zc? you can get a first gen b16 for cheaper than that! well i guess it would depend on your location but that's what 1st gens are going for around here. if you can get a hold of one and if you had the time and resources, why not try to do the swap yourself? i know it's easier said than done, but it sure would be nice to able to tell people you did the swap yourself...........well watever happens, good luck and keep us informed!

Got to remember there's a slight difference between U.S. and Canadian money and pricing
If $800 is for a motor fully installed, then great... but if that's just the price of a motor, then I'd say forget it!
