I've heard there are a lot of problems with the eclipse's. If you know any of the main problems that you've had, and if you know which eclipse has the least problems, please say so.
Thanx:help: |

I know that the 2g nonturbo eclipses sometimes have leaky headgaskets. Also there is a balljoint recall on the 2g eclipses. I hesitate to say that the 2g non turbo has the least problems of all. But I could be wrong Because i never owned a gst.

i heard that the 97+ turbo eclipes have crank walk, thats not good when you have a high hp eclipse also the head gasket tends to go alot on the na eclipes.

i've got a 98 gs and have never had a problem with it. as far as the gst and gsx, you don't have to worry about crank walk unless you are doggin' it 24/7 or upgrade it and don't do the other neccessary mods to go with your upgrades. as with any car, it all depends on how you treat it and if you keep up with your maintenance. any car can go to $#!& if you don't take care of it. go to dsmtuners.com for anything you want to know about eclipses, thats all that site is about is dsm's.

I've had both a 90 Talon Tsi FWD, and currently a 90 Eclipse GSX. Both have been pretty reliable, nothing but maintenence required to keep them moving. My GSX has over 130k on it, the Talon had about 115k. It's all about preventive work. The tranny issues are just that, issues. Some work great, some don't hold up as well due to aging synchros. But what do you expect? When you start doubling or even tripling the power output of the motor, the extra stress has to hurt something right?

DO YOUR HOMEWORK
People do need to do there homework before posting bullshit, check the weight of cars before calling cars heavy, People think they know everything without doing there homework. Go to www.edmunds.com and check the weight of a 96 maxima vs a GSX, then post BS.

I wasn't posting a link to weights...that's a link to quarter mile times...doesn't matter what you weigh if you're the winner....

well one yea eclipse/talon do have problems but if you're willing to work on it you'll be aiiight...bought mine for 700 bucks a 1g awd eagle talon only thing that was wrong with it was it needed a exhaust and the guy was tired of the car...so far it has:
big16g turbo 55cc injectors s-afc fmic mbc set @ 18lbs of boost and a few other things.... its a fun car to drive and from a dead stop if you know what you're doing...you will crush people out he hole. ![]() and for the maxima guy yea...nissian make nice cars...but who races a maxima???? i've personally crushed a few in my INTEGRA... and won't even waste the gas on one in my talon, so plese don't brag.... remember the maxima is a FAMILY CAR...:smoker2: not a street racer.
