Fujimi needs to die!!

Well, maybe not, but I got this kit:

Mazdaspeed RX-7 A-Spec Carbon Fiber Bonnet Aero

which is the same as this kit:

Mazdaspeed RX-7 A-spec

except they include a carbon fiber decal for the hood for 200 yen more in the first kit.

Well guess what...as far as I can tell, the carbon fiber decal they include is just a semi gloss black decal cut out to the size of the RX-7 hood..

Yeah, thanks a lot Fujimi! As if I couldn't have masked off the hood and sprayed it myself!

Luckily, Aoshima includes a decent sized CF decal in their C-west kit, which I'll probably use for the hood.

???
Aoshima's C-West did not come with CF right???
I just went to check my kit to find that it was not included...

That's Fujimi....
They get the license and they faster produce so many different decals with the same mold...
Take a look at the Evo 7... So many with different design but all in the same mold... Standard for Fujimi...

Yeah Fujimi are definitely dodgy. Got an enthusiast series Lancia Stratos that has parts of the plastic pieces missing. Appears as though the plastic didn't flow properly through the mold and thus the parts never formed. Fortunately I only want the thing for the engine and those parts are fine.

same thing happened to me. i thought that the decal wasn't printed properly, then i realized it was a fujimi kit and that the decal was made to be black.

Yeah, Fujimi sure does suck! Out of my 3 Fujimi models I am making now, 1 is absoloute shit, 1 is pretty crap and the other is alright. The absoloute shit one is the FC Initial D version, in my opinion Fujimi could not of made the suspension more of a bitch to put together! I don't know why they made it all so complicated but they did, and my suspension stuffed up so I have shelved my FC for a rainy day you will see something out of it eventually but I ain't giving no hints! The pretty crap one is the Zeus, i'm having bodykit troubles. The additional Zeus front bar is made out of really poor plastic, as is the whole model. The rear bar is very flimsy and bends easily, as mine came from Singapore it has already been bent! I don't know what to do with it because I managed to snap 1/3 of the front bumper off when I was changing it slightly, maybe I'll have to shelf it too Can someone give me a pointer here? Ok, to finish it up, i'm going on a bit huh? The S14 Veilside was a decent kit, could do with an engine and it needs ALOT more detail. In Australia Fujimis are going up to the price of Tamiyas! I don't really like either brand because they don't make my type of car, but I know i'll never buy a Fujimi over a Tamiya for that price! Has anyone here done the Fujimi GT40?

Edit, forgot to ask, what is it with models from Singapore? In my FC i got a spare sheet of additional tuner decals, a very big sheet at taht, and none are used on that model I also got an extra "VIP" series wheels decal sheet with my HKS GTR My 1994 Lowrider came from Canada, but it came with a 57 belair back end Uhh?

You could have looked on the web for reviews etc. first before ordering,
eg. my RX-7 kit pages list exactly what you found out after buying.

In the Fujimi Carbon Aero kit I have, the hood decal does show a CF pattern, but only vaguely so.

It looks like Fujimi is pretty low on cash, so they do what they can to sell more kits.
Including new wheels and decals is an easy way for them to do so.

I did look at your page before ordering, and I only ordered the Carbonspeed Aero kit to get the carbon fiber decal, because like your site said there was virtually no other difference between the two kits except for the price tag. And as I mentioned before, the decal is crap!

I'll take some pictures of the CF decal included in my C-west later, and a picture of the Fujimi decal.

Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear about the misfortune you're having there. Anyway, Fujumi is not popular in Belgium and for a while there wasn't even an importer anymore. Apparently there is one again now, but man are they expensive over here. Sometimes same prices as Tamiya for half the quality. So I'm not a fan either and will only by Merc's from them if nowhere else available.

Guido
