We can help you with all of that. As for installing parts, if you come to one of the "geekouts" I have at my house, we can help you install most anything. I hope to have one in October sometime. I think we will be having a Texas Rally (just a state wide gathering of SR20 folks) in November, but dates are getting tight. I am 99% sure I'll be hosting a geekout the day after Thanksgiving (it's a tradition now).

Well, that is enough to install a SR20DET. It won't leave much room for other things though.

Hold off on the GReddy cat-back. I'm not sure how sensitive you are to noise level, but the Remus is outstanding. Adam Koo (WRAITH on AF) has one. I love it. I'm going to get a Remus universal for my G with the SR20DET. You need to go for a ride with Adam. I'm sold on the Remus for the P10.

Wheels are a strictly personal choice. You can't go wrong with those tires though. I had a set on my SE-R and love them. They are a bit loud, but they are a really good dry tire and I've never driven on a better wet tire. Ever. They are wonderful in our Texas Acts of God that pass for rain here.

You won't need the Stillen or JWT intake with the CAI.

Get a Hotshot header. They are much better. The pulleys are made by Unorthodox Racing and get them from Courtesy Nissan in Dallas. They offer great discounts and are hugh supporters of the SR20 community. We've had several Texas Rallies there. They also sell aftermarket performance parts at really good prices. They even have their own line of performance parts.

Forget Stillen. It's strange, but folks here seem to have had good luck with them, but the SE-R mailing list doesn't call them Stealin for nothing. They ripped me off when I bought my first header from them. They produce few of their own products for our cars and most of them are a rip-off of someone else's design.

Courtesy can get your GC suspension at a good price as well. I'm running 275/200 for spring rates. You'll have to come by and try it.

Never fear Phil, there SR20 community is pretty active in Houston. We'll have another get together soon - especially since the weather is finally breaking and isn't hot as hell all the time now.

Geez, im gettin all excited now!

Hmm... Houston is cooling down..... and October sounds good

Remus is a cat back system?

No idea, never heard of em , sorry.

Just a quick question..... i don't suppose you have a lift you have access too? I was hoping to get some nifty green or blue neons to stick on... I'm going more for the showy look of the g20.

I've taken a look at my engine compartment several times, and looked for a place to stick a CAI intake.

Two main things im worried about..

1: No room for the CAI ... might have to go for the short ram, which i've heard doesn't get the cooler air that comes from outside of the engine compartment.
2: Hydrolocking. CAI is very open for this.... any solutions?

-Phil

P.S.

After looking around... I'm not interested in the turbo edition.... probably because its too hard to get my hands on a new/good condition one.. or even do a transplant.

I'm 17 and still in high school with my parents.... im so asian the most "hands on technical car thing" i know is to check tire pressure and put gas in my tank. I don't even have a power drill !!
... it was hell just sticking on some cheap strobe lights in my corner lights and windowwasher lights ... then hookin it up to a switch in my console!

Sounds great though man, give me an email or something with a date for a g20 outin!

geo- how do you put quotes in your replys?

ricecube77- the remus is not a cat-back system, it's only rear section. george swears by the remus, but some other people around think the greddy is better. i don't have an opinion as i haven't gotten exhaust, yet... if you do get the greddy go to www.groupbuycenter.com you'll probably have to sign in and all of that, but when you do go to infiniti. they're is a group buy for greddy exhaust at 28% off. greddy-$590, gbc-$424.

i just bought the stillen intake and i like it. i live in colorado so i didn't want to risk hydrolock, so i didn't buy a CAI. CAI will give you more power, but you run the risk. with the hotshot CAI they say you have to get a new battery (stock battery is too big), but some people here have not gotten a new battery, just moved it.

check out www.digitalracer.com there is a guy on this forum named luke (G22DET) and he runs that site. i bought my intake there. good site and luke is good help. they also have wheels on the site (i think konigs too).

welcome to the site and to the G world. listen to george as he knows everything about about these cars. i don't have too many mods myself, yet, but if you check around and read through the threads you'll find a lot of good info.

Nope. Just the muffler portion. But, you could get a B pipe made up.

ACK! Don't do that. You had great plans for performance stuff. Stay with that.

It's tight, but it can be done.

The AEM bypass valve looks promising but I've heard mixed reviews of the quality.

LOL!! :hehehe:

You know, I hope no one thinks this is racist, but I know what you mean. (There are several Asians in the local SE-R group just like that :-) ) Don't worry. We've had several guys from the SE-R crowd who learned to do mechanical work in my driveway.

Oh... geez.

Hm.
Looks like im cutting a HUMONGOUS hole in my pocket here.
Not to mention the giant crack in my bumper which now looks crooked .... my mom backed into it (i swear she doesn't use the rear view mirror or side view).

Welp.... How much would u ***estimate*** all this to cost (item + shipping + installation) ?

Greddy Exhaust Catback – 590$ Listed
Hotshot CAI 250$ About (less a bit)
Hotshot Headers 460$ About (less a bit)
Unorthodox racing Pulley Set - 400$ (Belts? Ack!)
Ground Control 4 point suspension 898$

JWT Cams and Camshafts.... nah. I'll do the major engine stuff when i get some real money and time.

(Add on about 1020$ for tires / wheels from Discount Tire... but i think i have a hookup there that will give me around 700 - 800 for the 4 set)

Shipping and such will put me over the limit (4000$) most likely.
Not counting installation...... Geezus.
I've heard Carboys over on bissonett by the beltway does good work, but no idea on the price for installation labor.. not to mention ordering parts.

IMO, its best to get a shop to stick the parts on for me, I'd rather not trouble the Houston SE-R people with my constant whining and b*tching about sticking parts on my car. Nonetheless, if u all want a project or something, im willing to put all the money up for this ...

One problem.....
Im 21 which means No creditcard or whatsoever , especially living with stingy parents. I do have cash i've worked for over the summer however. My parents (i hate but i love em...) don't want me to get a credit card... and they rather NOT have me waste my money on my car. Eh... what else am i going to spend my money on? I've worked hard for it dangit!
Stinks, totally. Hoping to work something out with my money and someone else ordering for me? (Mail / Phone order doesn't trust the "trusty" American Green Paper!)

Thanks for the ENORMOUS amount of help George! Any chance u can email me a contact number ? Maybe we can work something out with my hard cash and Courtesy Nissan.

Your estimate for the parts cost is not too far off. I usually don't talk specifics about prices too much for things that are readily available, but if you use those as an estimate, you'll be fine except the 2 pulley UR set is half that.

As for installation, if you come to our geekouts, I see nothing there that we cannot help you install. Geekouts are great because you get to do the work yourself, but have a safety net. If you run into a problem there are plenty of people to help you out, including getting dirty working on your car. The only thing is you're pretty much expected to at least try. Don't worry about tools, I have probably anything you would need except a spring compressor. You can borrow one from most parts stores though (leaving a deposit equal to the value of the spring compressor).

I've heard that you should stay away from them. I won't go into it publicly, but I've heard some bad things from more than one source.

Don't worry about bothering us. We won't install a ton of parts in your car for you in a single day, but we usually have geekouts pretty regularly. And if you offer to buy dinner and beer for someone afterwards, you might find someone there willing to do the whole thing if they aren't busy themselves. But you should come and plan on working on your car yourself. You'll learn a lot, and if you run into any problems, we'll decend upon your car like monkeys.

Easy solution..... Get a debit card for your bank account.

Well, I'm pretty sure they can get all the parts you are looking for at a good price, so if you can't get a debit card, I'm sure they can work something out for you.

I've been trying to get a group together for an evening trip to the Davy Jones Karting Experience. You get to race real karts with real race rubber, not toy karts with hard as rock tires. I know because I used to race karts and still have it in fact.

I'm getting ready to organize a geekout soon.

Muaha! Great news.

I found out a friend of mine that's modified his Prelude.... uses his dad's dealer liscence to get wholesale price on most of his stuff on his car!

I'm thinking i can lower the price of all these mods down to around 2700!

Geez, im totally psyched now.

(SR20DET sounds good... but too rich for my blood at this moment. )

Geo, quick question... do you have access to a lift or such? Or an engine lifter? Headers and exhaust seem to be the BIG problems on my list of to-do's. Other than that, im pretty sure i'll give a shot at installing everyhting i got! I'm hopin to get this puppy running near 180hp without major engine work (cams, camshafts, etc etc)

Spark Plugs... what do u recommend? (And wires.. im thinking somewhere in the neighboorhood of 8MM). RIght now my MPG is pretty low when i travel... thinking of replacing my plugs or just cleaning out the carbons on my current ones. But... alas.. I'm so asian i don't have the junk to disconnect my battery .... don't want to risk electric shock. is it safe to clean plugs when battery is still connected?

Anyone else live in the Houston area want to get together friday night and cruise or something?
Email me! [email protected]

-Phil

P.S. If anyone in the houston area (dibs to George) needs wholesale aftermarket or stock parts for thier car feel free to email! Pretty sure we can work something out.
