mixing jet fule wit pump gas!
hey peeps!
i was wonderin if it is a good idear to mix jet fuel wit pump gass? my boy when he had his mr2 used 2 fill his tank 3\4 way full n drive 2 da spot an full da rest of da tank with jetfuel and his car ran fine. but i waz wondrering if this is safe to do this alot and what are the long term effects of doing this. btw his mr2 was a 91 turbo with a bov and straight pipes n intake runnin on 14 psi and he didnt have problems.

I woudnt because the jet fuel is more explosive then reg. fuel so it could blow you piston or brake a shaft or it could just blow you up period!

in the aviation world turbine powered aircraft(jets) use a fuel called Jet A. Jet A is composed of kerosene. I dunno how I would feel about using Jet A in my reciporating engine, they don't go hand in hand. Atleast one horror story to my knowledge is a Turboprop plane(uses a turbine to power a propeller, like little commuter airline planes) that was departing from Cincinnati. The fueler put in AvGas(110 octane I believe or 100, this is whats used for normal combustion engined airplanes) into the Jet planes tanks. It already had some Jet A in there so the engines ran for awhile, after take off on climb out the engines quit and he crashed and died miles away from the airport, oops sorry about my mistake sir. The fuels don't work good when used in a different engine. I dunno what kerosene would do to a car's engine but since I have some aviation background and know of things like that situation you wouldn't catch me putting it in my car...... I know it can't be the best thing for it, just buy yourself some regular race gas if you want something special, or some octane booster.....

dammm.....
maybe i'll jus go wit the octane booster then! but my boy waz kinda explaining it 2 me n he said that anything that is over 110 octane isnt good 4 ur motor. but 110 octane n below is ok. it that true? also he said mixing the jet fuel(airplane) with the pump gass brings the octane down to aobut 110 or less. is this true? tanks 4 u helps!

I dunno like I said I wouldn't mic jet fuel with regular fuel, it isn't the same stuff. sure it burns but engines are complicated delicate things. I personally wouldnt use it. Regular AVgas as they call it is 110 octane but I think its leaded fuel, just buy some race gas, usually 93 octane will work fine anyways with turbos.

I was just at the drag strip the other day and they have pumps that you can fill up on race gas there. They had 102 and 116 octane. A lot of the guys that were running between 12-18 psi were using the 102 octane. The guys with 18+ psi were using the 116.

so its safe 2 run 102 octane in your ride rite?

You are right on about the Jet A Fuel it is Karosin, and also has less combustion than Pump Gas. Not Good for anything but lamps!!
Now AviFuel is OK... It is nothing more than 100+ octane. It basically is not allowed to be Pump because the US likes Dirty gas, and 100+ Octain does well in Plains due to Altitude change.... I think it cost like $4 at the AirPort. You can also smell the difference in AviFuel and Jet A. Race Fuel...the higher the octane the cleaner and hotter it burns. You cant dump a gallon of gas into a jar and light it with a cigerette. It has to have a bigger spark and a hotter gas to burn completly. You may now return to your regularly schedueled program...
