civic prop valve vs si one.

Hey guys, ive found someone selling the rear disk setup off an si for 50 bucks.

Now i know whats involved in the swap and the parts needed to do it from a teg. But I had a question on the proportioning valve, and also on the brake sizes.

As far as I know the teg had the same rear brake size as the crx correct? Also, if I swap the disks onto my civic will I need the prop valve from the si? I know you need it for the teg swap but are they different between the two civics?

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

I believe the crx si rear discs are smaller than the integra... not sure.

Yes, I believe you need the prop valve.

Ugh... I wish I had my crx still. At least I'd be able to take pics and post up what it all looks like even if I didn't drive the car. And based on the examples I've been seeing lately, I wish I had kept it and just redid the suspension, driver side rocker, fender, roof (maybe glass top) and painted. Hell, I'd probably even have a b-series by now...

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

you don't NEED the prop valve, but it will retain the stock 60/40 braking system (or maybe it's 70/30)... either way, there won't be enough pressure going to the rear brakes to stop you effectively... so yes, you SHOULD use the new prop valve, if you can get one, but no, it's not NECESSARY, however, NOT using it may actually INCREASE your stopping distance.

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

Yeah I know that without it the brakes wont be effective. I just wasnt sure if the crx had a different one, because I know with the integra swap its needed. Its ok though I can get it off him when I go to pick up the brakes. The only problem is that the right lca is snapped in half... so no sway bar for me for awhile. The integra one is the same right? Ok, better question is..is it EXACTLY the same. Like if I used one from the crx and one from an integra would the alignment still be right and would the sway still mount up once I got one?

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

I don't wanna say yes for sure, but I've been told several times that they're the same, and you don't need the LCA/trailing arm to do the swap.. that part I know for sure, I've already done it in a junkyard w/o the rest of the crap, just didn't buy it.

All you really need for the swap is the spindles, and the hubs, believe it or not.. it's just a pain to get those torx bolts out...

So, in essence, I wanna say yes, they're the same, but I'm not 100% on it, b/c the 'teg sway bar (I think) is bigger than the CRX bar. the mounting locations should be the same tho.

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

Yeah well if I just do the hibs I wont have the mounting points. And one of the lca's are coming with the brakes because he cant get it off without heat, like I said the other is snapped.

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

yeah, I know all that, I'm just saying tho, you don't actually need the LCA's to do the swap... IOW, you can swap out one, then change the other one later, if you need to, to get the sway in there.

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

So they are the same dimensions? I know my civic and the crx are but im trying to figure out if the teggy has the same specs. I would run one integra arm and one crx arm..

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

I was gonna ask what year teg it was, but it has to be a 90 or newer if you're doing it to your car... so, that said, yes, they're the same dimensions.

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

IOW< you can swap just one, be fine w/ it until you get the other one, then swap out the other one, and put the bar in there at the same time.

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

well, that's why I said it... but do yourself a favor, b/c I've been wrong before... just go to a junkyard quick and see if you can swap it over.. if it looks the same, then it is the same.. the only things that are going to be different are the holes in the LCA/Trailing arm, and if anything else is different, it will be quite noticeable before you even try to put it on.

I know the teg has larger bushing on the rta, but the lca is where im fuzzy. I know thye swap over, and nobody mentions alignment issues so I guess im safe

Re: civic prop valve vs si one.

yeah, I dont see a problem w/ it. Even if you only swapped one trailing arm, they're supposed to be the same as well.
