Will 285/75/R16 fit under the bed as a spare on a 98 Z71?
My 98 Z71 has the 285/75s on it which I'm going to need to replace. I was going to take one of them and use as the spare tire. The current spare (stock 245/75) is worn out and flat....not doing much good.
Will the 285/75 fit up under the bed in place of the 245/75 spare? |

The 285 fits in my 92, so should fit yor 98. Only thing on mine is the trailer hitch pushes the spare tire closer to the front, so it's pretty close to the brake flex hose. So you may just want to check that before you go too far.

Thanks....guess that makes since since the tire's diameter is larger. I didn't think about the trailer hitch but it is close. I was hoping to avoid having to pull a tire off, etc. I'll try to measure under there and see if there's room.
Both of y'all have some nice old cars pictured there. I bet that Pontiac would be great on a road trip...327 V8? 777stickman...is that a Bel Air? An original from NASCAR? |

I know this isn't the focus of the forum, but yes, it's the 275hp 327 with TH400 option. No bondo, no rust, with most of the original parts still on her and working fine. She's been undercoated since new. Still pretty quick for 135,000 miles, and rides like a brand new car ... from 1968. I'm not so sure about vortec, but these camel hump heads sure work great. Plans are to install a 425hp 454 with a done up th400, 12 bolt with 3.31 posi, corvette 4 piston disc brakes on the front, and the optional 15x6 Parisienne rally wheels, which where the DC code wheels available on 67 corvettes. The centre caps look similar to the Chev flat caps, but have no writing on them. I have all the parts, but just don't have the time; I'm not dad, I'm the fleet manager with seven licensed vehicles to look after between four people.
