Hi all.
I own a 2001 Cavalier. 2.2L SFI. ~57K miles. Routine maintanence, etc. The problem seems to be electrical in nature. All of this happened at once: I turn on the ignition, everything starts fine, the dashboard lights perform the usual self-diagnostics. Then.. gas gauge and temperature gauge stop working "check gauges", "theft system", "service", "brake" dashboard lights come on (parking brake is disengaged) the odometer starts displaying "error" stock audio system (non-RDS) reads "LOC" the seatbelt alarm does not sound when the engine is turned off, the interior lamp fades out instantly (normally, it will stay on for about 15 seconds) seatbelt alarm does not sound in any key position When I first shut the engine off and removed the key, my DRLs stayed on. To remedy this, I pulled out the DRL fuse (a few raspy beeps came out of the dashboard when I did this), and then I plugged it back in. DRL stayed off. Turned engine on and off again. DRL seems to function properly. Brake lights, headlights, high beams, etc, all seem to function correctly. Speedometer and tachometer work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I know next to nothing about cars) |

Re: Gauges, Stereo, Electrical, Error
i got in an accident and severed several wires going into the pcm one time, and the odometer read error. if you have a fault in the pcm it would most likely cause your problems. maybe even a short.

Re: Gauges, Stereo, Electrical, Error
I figured it out.
It was the loose relay thing located together with the fuses. |
