Talking New Wheels for Xterra

Hey whats up everyone, im new to this forum.
I own a 2000 Black Xterra XE with all options.

Ive been looking around for a while for a good set of summer rims, plus sized to around 16" to 18" but cant seem to find the right set.

Does anyone know of a good set of rims or have a pic of what they look like on the X?

what do you consider "Summer" rims? chrome? offroad? color matched?

If you are looking for Street wheels you probably won't get much of a response from these guys.

go post this on XOC, they are more into "summer rims" and probably have more options for you.

Are you looking for 7" or 8" wheels? also what size tires are you running? There are several companies that make them that are very close to the right size...and for a bit more they can be made to any size/offset/backspacing you want...by US Wheel, Stockton Wheel to name a few.

I'll check out US Wheel or Stockton. I tried Salesco and with the right offset they wanted about $87 per wheel. I told them I needed negative 5.25" backspacing, +40mm offset and they were very hesitant that any vehicle would have that specs.

Currently running 31"x10.50 BFG MT's on 15x8 Ar767's and the offset is too negative and causing some rubbing at full turn on the rear of the front wheel wells even with the mudflap and trim piece removed and the torsion bars up about 1.5"

They will make the rims to your specs. But they come unpainted.

I'm still curious as to whether the stock alloys can be powder coated. Might look mighty fine in black, but even if it's possible...those are some expensive rims to be doing that to.

Question

I checked this site out and am I wrong or do they only say they customize backspacing? Backspacing and Offset are two different things... right?

I'm trying to determine whether these guys would fabricate a wheel with stock specifications. If I'm not mistaken (which I usually AM), the stock measurements are:

Stock: 15x7
Offset 40mm
Backspacing 5.07

My head is really starting to hurt here. I'm still trying to grasp these concepts of offset and backspacing.

Well, it seems to me, that Backspacing and offset, while two different things, are directly related. That is, you don't need both. If you've got 7" wide rims, and the backspacing is 4.25", then the offset is a specific measurement, and cannot be different.

Backspacing is the distance from the inside edge of the rim to the mounting surface. Offset is the distance from the wheel centerline to the mounting surface. 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

The stock steel wheels can be chemically stripped and painted black.
