Socket Size For Factory Lug Nuts
Hi there,
Newbie here. My dad has a 2001 Windstar and he asked me if I could swap his all season tires to the new set of winter tires he bought (tires mounted on another set of steelies). I took the hub cap off and I noticed it looks like I need a deep socket. I have a 1/2 drive Torque wrench. Could someone tell me what correct socket size for the nut? Thanks.

Re: Socket Size For Factory Lug Nuts
I can only speak for my 95 win and 95 taurus, which both have standard lug nuts, not chrome, etc. They are 3/4" or 19mm. The Haynes manual calls for a 83 to 113 ft lb torque. To my surprise, the same equipment on my taurus has a torque spec of 80 t 105. Go figure. I just recently worked on my car needing to remove the tires and I reinstalled them with a torque wrench. I was able to figure out the tire shop with their impacts with no torque limiter tightened my lugs pushing 200ftlb!?! Have fun.
