Look for excessive engine noise, worn cv joints, leaking side shaft seals.

Look underneath and make sure it's AWD if that's what you want as pre-1996 you could get a FWD Impreza.

Re: What should i look for? 1995 impreza

Just like Freakray said for sure . I just sold a 94 Subaru Impreza with over 175,000 miles . These cars are the best if they were maintained and not abused too mutch . The standard trans for sure would be best being they have less electonics in the awd system. Autos seem to have more issues if they weren't maintained and bought used. But just to let you know my new 96 impreza outback has issues and still has never left me stranded. If you find a great used Impreza buy it its worth it. Some minor things to check though for down the road. Front engine timing belt , tensioner, idlers and seals, Water pump and oil pump gasket and seals. If you buy used check under the front timing cover for any oil leakage. Sometimes prior owners replace timing belts but nothing else in this area. I found this out soon after driveing this 96 and almost catching on fire from major oil leakage onto converters. This leak is common on these cars and if you buy used check it first. Also If its and automatic make sure the Trans temp light only comes on as bulb check at start-up. This should only bling a few to 4 times and go out. If it blinks like mine does 16 or 17 times be ware.
