How long to drop fuel tank and replace sending unit?

Does anyone know the approximate labor time for this work? I called a shop and they quoted me 2.5 hours. I thought it was more in the range of 1.5.

Thanks!

Book time is usually a bit generous. A mechanic with a nice lift could do it in under and hour easily. Heck, I've dropped tanks and replaced pump/sending units in under an hour in my garage with a floor jack.

Took me about 3hrs on a 99 Rodeo with a floor jack. Could be completed sooner, I was a bit cautious and cleaned up the tank a bit. I suggest you have some containers to hold residual gas unless your tank is bone dry. After all the sending unit is busted!
