Let's try something different...

I don't know what inspired me to even attempt something like this, but here I am doing it. I'll let the pics speak for themselves but keep in mind this is still VERY much in progress...

Re: Let's try something different...

That is correct, it's the Tofu Shop from Initial D. The "DriftDay" corolla body in the pic was only used for reference as I was measuring things out, but I'll have the correct panda zenki hatch built to complete the diarama (Aoshima version to be specific).

My apologies for the writing on the styrene, I just did it really quickly to simulate what it should look like. I have no real japanese writing talents or any sort of comprehension of the language.

Re: Let's try something different...

I've been sitting on those custom decals for years now, figured I'd try them out on a "beater" model. I plan on redoing that model but using an Aoshima version model. Heck, I want to do my ENTIRE corolla collection again using Aoshima models.

I posted this on the new site too.

oh sweet thx. yea i want to do some aoshima corollas as well but i'm waiting for them to release coupes!! i actually sold a fujimi coupe model i had because i anticipated aoshima's release in the future lol. i've already seen someone in japan convert an aoshima hatch into a coupe but i'm not that good at custom work just yet.

lately i've been thinking about doing a "used jdm wheel shop" diorama since my friend and i have all these wheels sitting around.

Re: Let's try something different...

I was actually planning to do the same thing, but a full fledged shop!! Infact, the styrene sheets used for this building were actually bought to build the shop I was planning on. This is as far as I had got...

Then I tried to make actual floor plans in AutoCAD but that's as far as it got.

Re: Let's try something different...

my local hobby shop has 3 aoshima AE86 coupe kits with engine detail, and 2 AE85's with engine detail.that engine sitting in the AE86 shell, is that the one the kit comes with?? and it looks suspiciously like a 20valve,if not, where can i get my hands on that engine?

It is a 20 Valve motor but it's scratch built. I had built that thing before Aoshima released their kits with engines. Aoshima does have the 20 valve engine though, I believe it's in their "Initial D" version. It should be on the box cover/art work. You'll know it when you see it.

Hey bro, good to see you on here still. I got a little bit more progress, not much though. I'll be going to the local art store later to get more styrene.

Re: Let's try something different...

y'know, it would be probably be quicker, stronger and easier and much cheaper if you used a thick cardboard for this. The surface texture of some is near perfect for scaled building rendering as well which is a bonus.
