00accord44 it's time...2007 season of College football

It'll be here before you know it. I just figured I'd set this up like I did last year for pre-season talk and smack.

I won't post a million pre-season polls but I'll go with rivals.com and if anybody sees a more interesting one they can post it up.

http://collegefootball.rivals.com/co...asp?CID=627579

Preseason Top 10 (top 25 at the site)
1. Southern California
2. Michigan
3. LSU
4. West Virginia
5. Florida
6. Ohio State
7. Virginia Tech
8. Oklahoma
9. Texas
10. Wisconsin

Now here's my personal top 10. Judging by many people and polls, it's either USC, LSU, or Michigan at 1, 2, and 3. After that it's anybody's guess.

1. LSU - I HATE and I mean HATE Les Miles but the man is ass backwards in talent down there.
2. USC - They have their defense returning but must replace some offence. Rebuild or reload?
3. Michigan - Sorry Accord but I feel bad ranking them even this high.
4. West Virginia
5. Florida
6. Virginia Tech
7. Ohio State
8. Texas
9. Louisville
10. OU

Anyway, in pre-season chat Les Miles has already called out Nick Saban and Pete Carroll.

Quote:
"I would like nothing better than to play USC for the [national] title," Miles reportedly said in a speech to a heavily pro-LSU gathering in New Orleans. "I can tell you this, that they have a much easier road to travel. They're going to play real knockdown drag-outs with UCLA and Washington, Cal-Berkeley, Stanford -- some real juggernauts -- and they're going to end up, it would be my guess, in some position so if they win a game or two, that they'll end up in the title [game]. "I would like that path for us. I think the SEC provides much stiffer competition."
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...usc/index.html

The thing was with him at OSU his trash talk didn't mean shit because OSU sucked. With him at LSU now he actually has talent and his ego just gets bigger and bigger.

As for the first couple of weeks there's only a couple of games that I think will really be good and I'm looking forward to.

USC @ Nebraska - Would like the upset but Dr. Tom or the 90's Huskers aren't playing. USC rolls.
Miami @ OU - Close game but I think OU wins. Miami is away, new coach, and a new game plan.

Anyway, can't wait for things to begin!

Oh yeah...blindside.AMG I guess you can post in here too even though you support...you know...that team.

I love the fall...best time of the year for sports! I can't wait for the college season to start...only problem for me is I don't really have a team. I just root against Notre Dame with all that I have.

Re: 00accord44 it's time...2007 season of College football

How did I miss this thread for 3 days when it has my frickin name in the title!!!

ugh that team from california makes me sick to my stomach. Blindside's kick ass job only half makes up for his allegiance to that squad. But beware of the mighty Wolverines for their receiver core is formidable and I'm sure they're looking to redeem themselves for that piss poor performance they ended the season with. Aside from that, my main hope is that Booty (tee hee his name is funny ) is upended from that Heisman throne they've already built for him by the gunslinger from Hawaii who put up like 45K yards and 150 TDs last season... ok maybe it was just 40K yards

The Big Ten shall return to greatness so beware all you lesser conferences

And here comes the list of hatred:

1) USC in general
2) Nick Saban and his lack of loyalty
3) Notre Dame and their smug attitude
4) The Florida Trifecta (FSU, UM, UF) all for different reasons
5) USC again cause I'm still bitter from the 96 Rose Bowl

They do suck. "Oh look at us, we're too good to join a conference!"

Don't know. Was a little crushed to tell you the truth. I make a season long thread just for you and you ignore it for three days!

That will take a long, long time. Michigan and Ohio State seem to be so ahead of the other teams in the conference.

So I take it you want to see Saban and Bama fail?
Also, what about Les Miles? Don't you hate him too?
Oh yeah, September 8th you'll see one of those Florida teams go down at Owen field

hey Muscletang, you left out the only undefeated team from last year. they didnt make your list last year either. Boise state moved up from #9 to #6 in the coaches poll and Hawaii moved into the top 25 at #23. watch out for the WAC Attack again in the BCS. If you can get it watch the BSU-Hawaii game this year. it will likely be for the Western Athletic Conference championship and will definetly be some great football. and dont forget the BSU-Oregon State (#22) game. some good football being played off your radar.

Wasn't half of BSU's team seniors last year? I know you lost your QB but didn't you also lose half of your offense and defense?

Re: 00accord44 it's time...2007 season of College football

Let the games begin!!!!

Funny thing about Les Miles commenting on USC's schedule...every poll I've seen has USC's schedule ranked HARDER than LSU's. And it's funny that LSU doesn't have to play any PAC-10 teams until possibly the BCS game, but that's so far off it's not even really worth mentioning. Personally, I think if they do meet in the title game USC will steam roll the fuckers just like they did Michigan. PAC-10 FTW!!!!!

Oh, and Oregon Ducks for my darkhorse pick of the season. You guys just WATCH it happen. Can't wait for Sept. 8th.

Ummmmmmmmm, yeahhhhhh, that probably won't be happening.

EDIT:

So I'm chatting with my brother right now and SC came up because he's taking a trip out to the ND campus. Here's what he had to say:

Quote:
yeah - I'd bring you back a souvenir but you cheer for SC so it'd burst into a thousand flames as soon as you touched it - so it'd kinda be a waste of money
And him referring to the joke gift I gave him last Christmas (a USC calender):

Quote:
in my life I will never have to fake a smile or pretend I love a gift I really could live without

cause I'll just go back the christmas I opened a USC calender and then I'll smile huge and laugh and dance around joyously at the piece of shit someone put in a box, wrapped up, and gave to me for whatever Christmas it is

because.............a wrapped up piece of poop will run circles - giftically speaking - around a fuckin SC reggie bush on the cover wall calender

The Ducks are certainly on my radar and so is Hawaii. As much as I hate USC, I respect the fact that they'll play teams that will be real competition instead of beating up on teams like Duke, Air Force, Navy and Stanford When you don't belong to a conference and you think you're the shit then why not prove your dominance against the best in the nation?

ahem...

I agree, but further, if you are in a conference and you recruit and coach to just do better in your conference and to beat up your old rivals you end up diminishing the game and just reduce college football to a minor league camp for the NFL. If the inbred Southern Conference had to play 3 or 4 games a year out of conference you might get a chance to see something exciting now and then rather than the same old stuff.

Ah don't say that. Maybe the game will end in a 7-7 tie and you both can debate on who really won

As for Oregon...I want to play them again and have this happen to them. Replace A&M in this picture with "Ducks".

Don't hold your breath on that to happen. Remember, the SEC invented football and created everything there is to know about football. We're lucky the SEC is so hard because if it wasn't all the teams, mainly Alabama, would destroy everybody and win the championship every single year.

Well the coaches poll is out. I'll only post the top 10 but here's the link if you want to see the rest.

USA Today's Preseason Coaches' Poll

1. Southern California
2. LSU
3. Florida
4. Texas
5. Michigan
6. West Virginia
7. Wisconsin
8. Oklahoma
9. Virginia Tech
10. Ohio State

Now what I don't understand is Texas being so high. I really think Michigan would take them if they played today and Michigan could maybe take Florida as well. On another note, blindside.AMG rigged this poll this just so everybody knows.

Indeed I did. I'm hard at work rigging the others as well.

I'm just curious blindside because I don't know if you ever said this. Did you graduate from USC or are they holding your mother's cat hostage if you don't root for them?
