78 Z28

My Neighbor had a 78 Z28 sittin in his driveway. It has been there for about 3 years and hasnt moved. I dont think it runs. It needs paint, however there is no rust. I know he would sell it because I know a guy who talked to him about it. The guy planned on fixing it up, however never got the ambition. IDK what the interior is like, if it even has a motor in it, or anything else. Lets say it has a motor but dosent run, interior is ok, how much should I offer him?

Re: 78 Z28

A PB&J and a handshake.
First, since he is your neighbor. I would find out a little more about the car. Like, if it does run, what type of motor, condition of everything, etc...

Re: 78 Z28

Poor gives good advice.

Do people not talk to their neighbors now? Go over there find out more about the car and whether he actually is willing to sell or not.

Re: 78 Z28

I wouldn't offer up squat, as suggested, go over there, shoot the shit and bs with him, and get talking about it. If he's lost interest in it as a project then you ask him what's it worth to him to get it off of his hands.

No motor or non running motor sounds like the perfect opportunity to get a great deal on a good rolling chassis. BUT, unless there's something different in the air of cheeseland, that car has rust even if it came from the dessert 3 years ago and got parked there. Moisture seeps up through the ground and goes to work on the floorboards, so it has rust chewing away at it.

Homework isn't just for school anymore...do some before you buy any car.

Re: 78 Z28

well we just moved last year so we dont know all the neighbors yet. He is 4 houses down, but its in the country so hes about a half mile away. I have been meaning to go over there but it seems like hes only home on weekends. My friend talked to him about it and is probly going to buy it from him later this winter. Ill wait and see if he goes through with it before I try to get it.
