Exclamation Need D16Y7 info!

Ok... bought an engine hoist today... should have the engine by next weekend, or the weekend after. Am going to clean it up, and replace a few things (water pump, timing belt, ect...) while I have it out of the car. And then I'm actually going to attempt to swap it into my car by the end of january... weather and work permitting.

What I need, or would like to have is a lot of info on the D16Y7 that I'm going to be putting in. Like upgrades and stuff I can do to it.

My stepdad has talked me into building that engine up and putting either nitrous oxide, or turbo charging it (or perhaps both eventually), so that's why I'm asking for any info anyone has.

Also, for making wiring simpler until I have time to convert over to the D16Y7's ECU and wiring harness, I can run that engine off a PM6 (88-91 Si) ECU right?

If you do that I think you need to plan on using a d16a6 manifold also...otherwise you'll have issues with the different sensors, etc..
Since they are both D-series, it should bolt up.
What is the difference between the d16y8 and y7?

Y7 = no VTEC

Well, I was thinking that I'd be able to use the Si ECU because you can use it when doing the Z6 and Y8 swaps, right? I mean, what would really be the difference besides the not having to wire up VTEC? As far as sensors go, shouldn't the Y7 have all the same kind of sensors, since it's still MPFI and such.

And then I was wondering last night as I was going to sleep, what would changing out the Y7 intake manifold for the Y8 intake manifold do for power? cause the Y8 intake manifold is obviously larger.

now here is the real anwser to what u need to do
decide which route you want to take
Forced induction OR natural aspiration

THEN

take your built(or stock) y7
and remove the injectors and replace them w your Stock ones(provided u have an si) replace teh y7 intake manifold with a Y8
then wire up all the sensors using you stock wiring harness
use a n A6 distributor ( should bolt on)
and youre golden
now

FOR your turbo kit
i build them
for 4g h atches and 2G crx's
with many options and pricing levels feel free to email me about them
ill get u hooked up remember to mention this site in your email

Well, I don't have an Si, I have a DX. What do I need to do in this case now?

And if I use the Si ECU, I have to use an A6 distributor?

And then what would I need to do to use the y7 ECU (cause I'll have one of those too)?

I hope you plan on doing the mpfi swap...if not you're really not gaining anything but dirty hands.......

the si ecu requires the a6 dizzy because it has the crank angle positioning sensor and the cylinder 1 positioning senser inside of it unlike the dx dizzy..if you try and use the dx dizzy and not hook up the 2wires your car will hit revlimiter at 3grand and miss hella bad..I tried it...haha.....you also might have to change the plugs on your harness...my car had square plug and the dizzy had round....rewire it...I did it...its actually pretty easy....
