WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

ok...so i've kinda been putting this one off for a while, but i'm finally starting it.

I have yet to decide on a color but it will most likely be some shade blue...or just flat black with chrome.

I dont plan to do any major modifications to it other that adding a few things or fixing problems with the kit itself...

well here goes...

First off, here are most if not all the things that I will be putting into this build..... a set of Hoosier racing slicks, racing seats, a racing fuel cell and nitrous (if i decide to open and create a trunk), and bigger aluminum exhaust pipes (I would like to make it a side exhaust setup if my skill should permit...)

Here is one of the Hoosier slicks, I have resurfaced them to give them a more real rubber and used look. (sitting next to the racing tires that came with the kit)

Here is the supercharged 454. This is the first time i have done spark plug wires, they have no boots on either of the ends, but they turned out pretty decent...

There was no gear linkage on the tranny so i added it....

Ok...so the first problem i have come across is that the exhaust is molded to the rear axle. I will have to separate the to in order to reroute the piping to the sides. also some pics of how the new aluminum tips compare with the molded ones...

and the tips...

That is all for now... i will have updates soon.

...any comments and/or suggestions are well appreciated!

thanks for looking.

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Those Koosiers look wicked. I would just have the exhaust come out of some headers rather then the exhaust, but it's up to you. I don't know if you were going for a street car or track machine.

Well i am going for i mix of the two....like a street legal track monster if you will.

I would like to do a set of headers but im afraid that i dont have the time or the guts to attempt that. If you know of a tutorial on that it might help, but at the moment i am just gonna shoot for the sides.

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Some progress done today...

I painted the chassis and added a few minor details.

I successfully removed the exhaust from the the rear axle and compleated the rear axle assembly.

...and i completed the front steering and suspension rack assembly.

Thats really all i've got today...should have more tomorrow.

Peace for now.

Comments and suggestions on the build are welcome!

(P.S. If anyone has any suggestions on the paint color it would really help, 'cause i still cant decide. Please help!?!?)

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Hello All!

I've gotten some more work done on her finally...

spent about an hour raising the rear end up and dropping the front end down a bit....but she is starting to look real good, and the stance is great.

...i dont have any pics right now because it is late here and my night time flash really sucks.

I will take daylight pics tomorrow of progress so far, and hopefully someone will help me decide what color to paint the body...

...i guess thats it for now.

any suggestions??

Peace!

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Looking good. For color, I always liked the 1970 Chevelle in red w/ black stripes, but if you're going for a street/track monster, tehn maybe something more eye catching is in order. I sent you a pm with info on headers.

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Ok...so i have officially given up on the whole trunk idea, its just a little too much for the skill i have at this time.

...but in any case, i got some good daylight pictures today of the dry fit of what i've got so far, and i must say that despite the issues surrounding this kit it is comming together pretty nicely.

well...here ya go.

First the Engine with the new exhaust.

...and the new exhaust on the car itself.

Here is the dry fit of the parts so far...

well...thats it so far, hope you guys like it.

any comments and/or suggestions are welcome!

(P.S.- still can't decide on body color...anyone??)

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Looks good, some nice work so far. I think it would be worth sanding off the mould lines on the rear pillars and the edges of the bumpers etc so that you end up with a more convincing result though.

Re: WIP: '70 Chevelle SS 454

Ok....so here is what i've gotten done.

Finally got the interior completed and some parts of the body sanded.

So here are the pics of the interior in and out of the car...

First, just the interior by itself: the only thing left stock is the dash itself (the fire extinguesher came with the kit but...thats about it)

...anyway here it is

Here it is all together:

So...? tell me what you think...

should have the body sanded and painted pretty soon...hopefully atleast.

Well...thanks for your time!

Peace guys!
