Brake booster replacement 88 1500 DX 4 dr

I'm trying to remove the booster but can't get it far away enough from the fire wall to remove it. It appears I need to remove the intake manifold just
to remove the booster. Can someone tell me the way to do it without
removing the intake manifold. The factory shop manual doesn't mention
an easy way to do it. Any tips appreciated.......

ok well in all reality just take the master cylidner off the booster and disconect everything on that side of the car. you shouldnt have to take out the intake. there is ample room. make sure the push rod pin thats connected to the brake pedal is removed and the 4 bolts on the fired wall. after that it should be a breeze. what are you tryin to do any how.

If you really can't get the thing out, you can make a lil more clearance for yourself if you take the bolt out of the front engine mount, and place a jack w/ a wooden block under the front of the engine to lift it up.

Re: Brake booster replacement 88 1500 DX 4 dr

I just want to replace it with a new one. It stopped working a couple of months ago, requires a lot more foot pressure to make it stop and makes
a loud "wooshing" sound whenever i brake. It is 20 years old so I decided
to replace it and the original master cylinder. I got the M/C off with no problem, disconnected the push rod from the brake pedal, removed the 4
nuts inside under the dash. It (booster) pulls away from the fire wall but
hits the intake manifold with the pushrod still in the firewall about 2 inches.
Will play with it some more come daybreak.............
