94 SL Growling noise
Hi, I have a 94 SL1 with about 130,xxx and whenever I get over about 10 mph, it sounds as if I have big mud tires on. I took it in to get and alignment, and the tech said it was wheel bearings going bad. Well a few days later I had the wheel bearings replaced and the noise seemed to keep getting a little louder. The noise does go away if I turn the steering wheel a few inches to the right, and it as quiet as could be. Could this be a cv axel problem, or possibly the struts and bearings wearing out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: 94 SL Growling noise
It could possibly an axel problem, but I can't say for sure. I doubt it's the struts wearing out though. When they go they tend to make more of a rattling/knocking around noise when you're moving any where from 1mph ~ 40mph....depending on the roadway. I realize that probably didn't help much, but it's my 2¢ anyway. Good luck and maybe someone else will be able to narrow it down a bit more for ya.
