Right Decision???
Hi, im new here and I plan to come back and answer others questions or just post about cars. My question is about a first car. I am planning to buy a first car and was wondering if my decison is right. I have chosen a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse gs. Dont worry I wont put some body kit on it or tune it. This is my first car. Do you think this is the right choice and can you tell me why or why not. Also does anyone know how much insurance would cost on this car. Thanks!
Also these are two cars I have been looking at. Which one do you thinks a better choice and is the second worth the extra money. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/car/468021764.html http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/car/467344748.html |

Re: Right Decision???
Hmm. The first car is kind of dinged up with 88k miles. $4k. The second looks very clean and taken care of but with 120k and costs $5.5K. Unless the dings really bother you i would go with the first car and just fix the body. 32k miles is a pretty big difference. As for insurance, look on Progressive.com they have estimates you do online.

Re: Right Decision???
Eclipse isn't exactly the most reliable 4 banger available but seems to be a fair deal considering the tranny is rebuilt and warrantied. 2nd one has too many miles for my taste. How old are you? There are many factors affecting insurance rates, of course, but generally a car like this will carry high premiums.

Re: Right Decision???
Thanks for all the responses. I am 16 years old. The dents don't really bother me too much since the cars pretty cheap. When I turn 18 I will probably getting a new car not used because then ill know how to take care of a car and drive better. I also probably wont drive that much a year. I think I'm going to go for the first one.
Thanks everybody. |

Re: Right Decision???
From what I read DSM's can be good and they can be bad. Some will break something every week some won't cost you much of anything. Considering your 16 you might want to rethink your choice. Get something people don't relate to street racing or going fast.
