Well since you said it has a 5 speed in it that actually narrows it down. the 87 model year only came with the 3.0l V6(auto only), 2.0L 4 cyl ( very rare to find) and the 2.5L most common and came in stick... More then likely it has the 2.5L 4 cyl engine in it. Your rough expected MPG for it 16city 33 highway. This engine does pretty poor in the city and really well on the highway. you could even see up to 38+ mpg on the highway... if it's running properly, and the right driving conditions. These engines are very well built too... they have been known to hit very high mileage if maintained well. If it's in good shape and well maintained... you may have a stong commuter car on your hands. Good luck.
