Rim and tire sizes 1997 Escort

ok i need to kno wat the biggest rim i can put on a 97 Escort is because it seems as though 15x7 with 195 width tires is all i can fit i would use a spacer but then i rub on the fender and if not using anything wider than that i rub the strut Any help??

That describes it fairly well. A taller tire will rub on your fenders and a wider tire will rub the bottom of the strut. On mine there is only about a 1/4 inch clearance from the struts. I tried to put wider tyres on mine and the shop guy said, "Hey! This ain't gonna work."
