Talking cam degrees?

what the hell is all this cam degree stuff?

for example 274degree and 272,and so on

i no that the cam degrees control your idlein and i thhnk that a higher cam degree will give you a more unstable idle, but im not sure

can some one plz explain 2 me about cam timing and degree and how if effects our cars and also how messing with the degree and cam timeing will make the car faster!

thankks

the cam degree is the angle, or degree, at what the cam lobe is cut at. The valves are controlled by the cams. as the cam spins, one of the lobes pushes on the rocker arm which causes the valve to open. The more of an angle, or degree, on the cam lobe, the long the valve will stay open. Say that the valve stays open longer on the intake stroke, then it allows more time for more air to be sucked into the combustion chamber. more air + more fuel = more power.

thanks !
so wid a turbo car you would want the exaust side of the cams to stay open a longer time so that the turbo will get enuff exaust gasses to spool up quick enough?rite

also what are the effecys of having a more agressive cam on your street car?

thats right

For street use you dont want to crazy of a cam degree because if it is to high then your car is going to idle like crap.

The crazier the cams are cut, will, for the most part, ruin your bottom end, and you will have more power at the top of your rpm range. Stage 3 is usually completely unstreetable, but stage 1 is usually not much differen than stockt, thats why I chose stage 2, but my car is a Honda and not a 240sx, so your choices may be different than mine.
