Automatic Hubs for 84 K20
Does anyone know of a source for automatic locking hubs for an 84 3/4 ton Chevy? I'm in the process of restoring this truck and would like to keep the original type automatic hubs but have had no luck finding them. I've checked with all the local parts stores and GM garages with no leads.

I do not remember any auto hubs back then?
Are you sure they are OEM? What does the dealer say about them? MT

Re: Automatic Hubs for 84 K20
Yes, the hubs are OEM, my grandpa bought the truck new in 84 and these are the original hubs that came on the truck. The dealer says they cannot get these hubs any more, but the manual type are a direct replacement without any conversion kit. (These are not the full time 4wd type hubs) I Have been unable to find these in NOS or aftermarket. I've checked with LMC, Classic industries, Ebay, GM dealer, Local parts stores, and several other companies.
...... It's startin to look like I'm gonna have to go with manual lockouts.

Re: Automatic Hubs for 84 K20
That's news to me. I just read my '86 owners manual cover-to-cover and it doesn't mention automatic hubs. Maybe they stopped using them for awhile?
I personally prefer manual locking hubs. Sure you have to get out and possibly get some mud on your boots, but you KNOW they're locked in. Even better are the solid "slugs"

I agree, I like the manual lockouts better too, but I am doing a frame off restoration and would like to keep it as original as possible. I'll try to post a pic of my hubs or send a link to show what i'm lookin for

Re: Automatic Hubs for 84 K20
Here's a web site that will give you some support on the "auto locking" hubs. I had an '88 Blazer with them. Look on the right side bar to see that they were introduced in '81. I personally did not like them as you have to back-up to disengage them. Kinda tough to do with a trailer hooked up!!

Check these out on EBay. One is a set of hubs and the other is a set of really nice NOS covers.
