obd 2

Hi guys ,
I was wondering how effective are in troubleshooting those pc software that show a bunch of real time data,
and
my second wondering would be what kind of software is "best" and the conector i need to buy (possibly cheap) to make use of that software.
Thanks in advance.

Re: obd 2

look around, there are many choices! you did'nt say whether you are an auto repair shop or not? If so, i can only speak for myself, after being in the business for 38 years, i have the older genisys obd II system and it still works fine! I have been looking at this new EScan Scan Tool by Automotve test solutions - www.AutomotiveTestSolutions.com ;also there is www.pico.com, and I can't afford it, but this is the latest system out! - AXONE3 + TRIBOX mobile from TEXA USA INC. - www.texausa.com I hope this helps!

Re: obd 2

Have you considered the scangauge?
Powered through the connector and small enough to keep permanently hooked up.

Re: obd 2

I am an idividual,not a machanic shop.

Scangauge all they do is showing some "simple" codes and nothing more, right?
At least thats my impression from the one i borrowed from murray's.
Thanks for the links Tommy. The software looks like is being given for free, all the mechanics have to buy is the hardware.Doesnt look kinda pricy paying $200 or more for just a connector?

A little more than that. Readout of 12 different values, can show and reset codes etc.
http://www.scangauge.com/

I bought one, but my japanese car has a different ECU to the US ones so it couldn't communicate.
