Electrical Problem(no electrical responce)

This is my first time on this site and from the forums i have visited i can say that im very pleased.

I have a 1996 Chevy Caprice with the LT-1 and the police package. My car was running fine at first. I turned it off and went in the cafe for about 30 mins, and when i attempted to crank it back up nothing happened.... I have no electrical response at all. The fuel pump wont even cycle on.... I checked the inside and and outside fuses and all seems to be fine. My battery is good also. When I rub the battery cable against the side post of the battery a can see a small spark if its dark enough. So i dont think its the battery connector cable....

I was told that it was my electrical ignition switch, and i was also told that it was a circuit breaker switch. I didnt know that they had circuit breakers on them.... And if so where can i find it.... I know the problem and im asking you experts for the solution... Thanks guys

I have a 95 9c1 lt1 and sometimes when I hit a bump too hard, my battery cables move causing her not to start the next time I get in her. When I cut the car off, and it does start back up, i get under the hood and wiggle the cables. I have 3 cables connected to my positive terminal, so I just make sure that the cables are connected good and she starts up fine then. I never had the problem until I added the 3rd cable (amp kit).

Do you get a "click" when you try and start the car? Do any lights on the dash come on at all? If not, I don't think this is the same problem you are having.

You should get a fairly big spark, lough enough to hear clearly, and bright enough to see in almost any light. Just for the heck of it, try to take off your battery terminals, and put them back on. Then loosten and tighten the ground wire going from the battery to the engine and the other from the battery to the body. This will fully confirm that it's got nothing to do with the battery connection. My suspicions are, however, that you have a bad ground connection. A stationwagon I had back about a year ago did the EXACT same thing and it was the small ground wire connected to the quarter panel by the battery. My buddy's '77 Monte Carlo also did the exact same thing and it was his positive battery terminal. Corrosion had built up in the terminal itself. He loostened it, then tightened it to re-establish a connection and voila! Everything worked again.

Re: Electrical Problem(no electrical responce)

my jeep had a cracked battery terminal, and it would do the same thing... one time it would start fine, the next it would act as if the battery was dead. i got a new terminal and the problem went away.
