Question Creeking when you turn steering wheel

I noticed my 2004 Chevy Aveo has a creeking sound coming from the drivers side and only does it when you are turning not driving straight.

Should I take this in to a dealer or does anyone know what it might be?

Re: Creeking when you turn steering wheel

I ahve had mine in once already for this same problem and it still does it. I am going to take it back one more time since now my drivers seat is broken and one of the vents keeps falling down. Last time they greased the strut plates and the vertical mounts of the front and stripped one of the nuts on the frame. They fixed it by putting a lugnut on the end of the bolt. I think GM is going to hear from me soon.

Mine just started or at least i just noticed it today. Is this something that is huge problem? What should I tell them when I take it in? check the vertical mount?

I would recommend NOT telling them to look for anything in particular. Explain the symptom/problem/sound and let them figure out where it is coming from. Just my 2 cents.

BTW, I have the same problem since last winter. But only does it in the cold. Since it is starting to get cool around here it is starting again. I will bring it in this year.

Thats what is called FLAT RATE. Thats also your CERTFIED GM MECHANIC AT WORK. They act like damn red necks with duck tape.

Sometimes I wonder what the warrenty is for anyway. Im better off fixing it myself and getting it over with.

Sorry about this, it kinda gets to me.

Re: Creeking when you turn steering wheel

Yea, I think I am going to fix the creaking myself too. It is easier than dealing with the idiots at the dealer anyway. I will make it work then trade it in. I have had too many little problems with it and the gas mileage is not what I expected. I usually do my own work but since it was under warranty, I figured I would let them do it and the air bag module went out so I had them replace that too and it took 5 days to get it fixed because they said they got the wrong part from Korea.

Check and lube the rubber bushings on the anti sway bar.
