Dash/Console swap

I'm looking at getting a 90-91 4dr sedan... and I have a junker '88 CRX HF sitting in the barn... was wondering how hard it would be to put the CRX dash in the sedan?

I like the lower dash, and the center console is driver oriented... preference for me.

Would it be better to stick w/ the 88-89 4dr for this? or won't it work at all? (w/o major mods)

Re: Dash/Console swap

Should go in without problem, just make sure you use the wiring and cluster from the 4door.

Re: Dash/Console swap

ah, yeah, cluster is an issue, but I'm no n00b... so I can do the rewiring myself.. it was just the boltin it in thing... I was worried that things might not line up, or :gasp: be too short or even :gasp: :gasp: be too long... it's a honda, ya know :P

EDIT: sry, forgot.. using the DX/LX cluster is an issue b/c the CRX cluster is at a slightly diff angle, and is a bit shorter, hence, won't fit behind the stock trim, and the DX/LX trim doesn't fit in the CRX dash (found that out when I actually had the CRX running, and had to replace the cluster...)

Re: Dash/Console swap

Yea, I didn't think there was a difference between models, other than whats in the cluster. I know I had a 88-89 cluster in my 91 and it left a gap at the top.

Re: Dash/Console swap

eh, maybe that's it, I can't remember what we were swapping the CRX cluster from, just that it was a CRX.. and it was shorter.. didn't fit.

But, I don't have the car yet, I'm still working on it, and getting my license back.

Have to call PennDOT monday to get a restoration requirements letter, since it's getting close to time to send it back to me, just wanna make sure everything is setup and ready to go so I can get it w/o a hitch.

sooooo tired of riding the bus @ 5 am to get to work
