you have to short two pins on the ecm connector under the dash and then press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote together and wait for the lights and horn to flash , sorry I cant remember which two pins but I did find the procedure on the internet through a google search. I had to do this when I got my truck in April so I know the info is out there. Good luck

Did you get your remote programmed? If not, I can give you the program instructions.

If they key is in the ON position during the programming procedure, the horn chirp will be disabled, if the key is in the OFF position, the horn chirp will be enabled. The horn will chirp when the lock button is pressed two times. When reprogramming the remote control door lock reciever, All transmitters must be programmed at this time in order for the transmitters to operate the vehicle. Transmitters not programed at this time will not work and the procedure will have to be redone with all the transmitters. 1. Ground pin 4 to pin 8 of the data link connector (DLC). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors, and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds. 2. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the first transmitter to be programmed until the locks cycle (approximately 10 seconds). 3. Repeat step 2 for up to four total transmitters to be programmed (if available). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds. 4. Remove the ground applied to the DLC. 5. Lock and unlock the doors in order to verify the transmitter operation. 6. Activate the rear window release in order to verify the transmitter operation. Bas |

Re: 1999 Chevy Tahoe keyless remote
Also you need to leave the 4 pin grounded to the 8 pin while programming. When you first ground them the locks will activate.

Re: 1999 Chevy Tahoe keyless remote
This would be easier if I knew what the Data Link Connector looked like. Anyone know where I can see a diagram or picture of the DLC for a 1999 Chevy Tahoe?
Thanks, Russn8r |

Re: 1999 Chevy Tahoe keyless remote
Is this the same procedure for the Silverado? (minus the window button of course) My keyless entry doesnt work from very far away at all, maybe 10 ft or less and hardly ever works if I am standing behind the truck and I was wondering if this would help the problem at all. Ive replaced the battery in the remote and its still the same, on my 02 2500 I had I could use it from across the parking lot at work so it seems something isnt quite right with it.

Re: 1999 Chevy Tahoe keyless remote
This is about the best pic and description I have found for the DLC. Its located on the drivers side under the dash.
