I bought this one owner auto back in '03. It had been sitting in the cold and snow of the NE for a least a year. I keep her in excellant condition but because of the undercarriage rusting my gear shift cable ( the cable that allows you to put the car into gear) finally broke and I'm having a heck of a time replacing it!!! They said that they no longer make them!! Needless to say can't drive it if you can't put it into gear. I live in MA but if you can put me in touch or you have one please let me know. My jets are cooling fast!! She's much to good of a car to junk!!!! Waiting with baited breath!!!

Re: PLS HELP!!! 1990 Honda Civic CRX
well you can find the right parts supplier for the cable but after you get it i reccomend getting undercarriage sandblasted and rhino lined as fast as u can before u punch a hole through the floor board

Re: PLS HELP!!! 1990 Honda Civic CRX
id ask this in the 4th gen section im sure someone has one..but i would just go to a junkyard and pull one from a civic or crx 1990-91..they only take about 5 mins to remove one..
thats weird that the gear shifter cable went bad cuz of it sitting..do you mean shift linkage or the cable??

Re: PLS HELP!!! 1990 Honda Civic CRX
ok, so you consider that if she's saying cable, it's probably an Auto-Magic car...
Being Auto-Magic, the cable(s) would be plastic coated... (I make similar cables at work all day long.) Being plastic coated *to prevent rust and the like* it's pretty safe to say that one of two things happened. 1) The end of the cable that connects to the transmission failed, or 2) Something has come loose, and she hasn't actually researched the problem, is just assuming the shift cable is borked. PS @ Foosh -- Wanna sell that Si-R? |
