helping out an old motor....

a friend on mine just bought a civic and it has fairly high miles on it, I believe around 130K. There doesn't seem to be anything mechanically wrong with it, but I still think he should get SOME things done to it so it lasts longer. I was thinking maybe putting in new spark plug wires and topping off all the fluids and I don't really know what else. If someone could help me make a list of things that aren't that expensive but are a good idea to do that would be great! thanks.

normal tune-up things are always a good place to start. replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, oil, oil filter and top off all fluids. you can change out the fluid for whatever is powered in that car like brakes and steering. change out the coolant. there are probably some more things to do, but that will keep you busy for a little while.

these are estimates, but should all be pretty acurate, but im basing them on NY prices.

cap - 8
rotor - 3
wires - 30
Oil - 4qts - 6-10 depending if you use reg. or synthetic.
plugs - 5 - 25 depeding on regular or multi platinum
timing belt - 45
water pump - 65-85
oil filter - 4
fluid top off - depends how much you need.
fuel filter - 10
air filter - 15 - 45

again these are just estimates but they should give you a good idea.
