suspension link kit - simpleton or expert?

I've been hearing a banging in the suspension on my '03 P5, and confirmed recently that I need a suspension link kit for front and rear. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch - its sounds sad on a car forum, but beyond changing lightbulbs and air filters I'm pretty much useless. I'm not afraid to dive in and get my hands dirty, but is this going to leave me puzzled and stranded? Anybody done this work, do you need specialized tools?

They want $200 labour at the shop, if I can keep this in my pocket I'd sure be happy about it.

Thanks guys,
Aaron.
