how good is a tracker???????????
hi ....im new to the tracker section
we found a tracker for sale and my daughter has always wanted one. So.....how good of a vehicle are the trackers in general and what are their weak areas as far as overall vehicle dependancy goes. This tracker we are looking at is a 1993 model and it is a 4x4.I am in Canada...what price range should we be looking at roughly? ON a scale of 1 to 10 i would say this tracker is a 7 when it comes to overall condition.Any help would be great..thanks in advance |

Re: how good is a tracker???????????
The most common weak point on the 89-95 Trackers is the ECM. However, they are usually repairable for under $100US. Make sure the oil, water and other fluids remain topped up. On our '92 we have replaced the ECM, clutch, front wheel bearings and the top.We also replaced main and rod bearings in the engine but that's because it ran low on oil. As you can see most of the repairs were age related and would be common to almost any car.
Otherwise its a reliable car, just make sure your daughter understands and performs regular routine maintenance. Check the Kelly Blue Book for an accepted price/value estimate. That's what your insurance company will use when they value the car. Have fun with your new Tracker.

Re: how good is a tracker???????????
keep in mind that not all have the issues though mine is a 95 with 160k and im still getting 26-28 mpg and the only problem i have had was my water pump went out and my clutch plate had to be replaced other than that mine is excellent. they do tend to rust on the body so make sure you check that out but every car does that.
