2004 Automatic Aveo Knob Removal

I have searched high and low and can't find the answer. Is there a way to remove the Auto Gearshift Knob on a 2004 Chevy Aveo. I read that the manual one is cast into place but no references of the auto knob. Can some one please help. I looked for a screw that may have been holding it in place but found nothing. Also tried to turn the knob but wouldn't budge. Please help......

Thanks!!!

Spin the chrome ring under the shifter, by hand, counter-clockwise (from above)
Pull knob hard upwards.
