2003 blower motor quit. speed resistors?
Does the 03 P/U have restitors for the fan speed control like the older models? I lost the top two speeds a week ago & could smell electrical burning very strongly in the truck. Now its out completely, no blower at any speed.
Any thoughts? Carl |

Yes but not at high speed. It sounds more like the fan motor.

Re: 2003 blower motor quit. speed resistors?
I would take some jumper wires and run 12 volts to the blower motor. The purple wire is the power wire and the black wire is ground. If it works then I would lean toward the blower motor resistor assembly which houses a relay that is probably bad.

Re: 2003 blower motor quit. speed resistors?
Thanks guys, blower motor is working fine, I jumped it out. I found the resistor pack & it has the high speed relay built into it. Apparantly it has gotten pretty hot. Two of the wires have the insulation melted off. Thats probably what I was smelling. No blown fuses, & the wires are actually ok, no burned through. They just got very hot for some reason. I am thinking its heat transfered from the resistor pack?
