Oil pump leak? Oil Pressure?

My dad has a 2000 Bravada. He just had it in for an oil change and was told that his oil pump was leaking. The guy shows him all around the oil filter was wet with oil. I asked him (dad) If he was losing any oil? He said no. I looked on the ground for any oil leaks, there are none. The vehicle seems to run fine. At idle the oil pressure is between 20-40 (idle), and goes up as you accelerate. My first guess was maybe the oil filter wasnt on tight enough? I have never heard of an oil pump leaking before. Am I correct to think that the oil pump is located in the oil pan itself? Does any of this sound possible?
I havent been able to take a look at this myself. In addition what is the oil pressure spec on this vehicle? Thanks Tom

Re: Oil pump leak? Oil Pressure?

The oil pump is internal, how did tyhis guy see inside the engine, ask him? OP is ok. Maybe he meant the lines to the cooler?

Re: Oil pump leak? Oil Pressure?

like max said, the oil pump is internal. the oil leaks he was shown are probably from the lines going to and from the oil filter, a common problem on the bravadas. they weep oil but not enough to be noticable on the dipstick or driveway. a fairley easy do it your self project if you want to try replacing them yourself.
