Smile Downpipe question, please help

I just bought a 3" ZZP stainless bolt on downpipe and I'm wondering if there would be any advantage to having it Jet-Hot coated or, would it be a waste of money? Also, I bought a 3.3" pulley and I would like to know who else is running this pulley and what supporting mods they have. Thanks alot for taking the time to look at my post and hopefully giving me some insight.

IMO a waste of money. The ZZP DP is stainless and who is going to see the Jet-Hot coating to even know you have it other than you.

For any supercharger pulley below 3.4" keep a check on knock retard (KR). Run a scan of KR after upgrading the SC pulley. You may need other supporting mods most likely other exhaust and intake. You should go two ranges colder on the spark plugs and consider a 180 degree thermostat if you have the stock 195.

How about the PCM module. Is your PCM module stock or re-programmed?

Re: Downpipe question, please help

I wasn't gonna get the JET-HOT coating for appearence purposes. I thought it might be a good idea to keep the heat in the exhaust tube as much as possible in order to keep the velocity of exhaust up. Getting heat out as fast as possible to keep KR at bay. Probably need to coat the entire exhaust system from the header or manifold all the way to the exhaust tips.

Re: Downpipe question, please help

It is your car and money so I guess you can do what you feel best. Coatings like Jet-Hot and other similar are mainly for thermal insulation, corrosion resistance, abrasion and impact resistance.

I'm not sure if it works as you described in order to help with KR but from what I understand it reduces temperatures as much as up to 60%. A product such as this is used mainly on headers. Reduces heat in the engine compartment and extends the life of the part coated. Also keeps the appearance. I have SLP headers with the sterling silver aluminum ceramic performance coating which is similar to the Jet-Hot process.
