1999 Concord wont start when hot

My Concord will not start when hot at times. (3.5L) Let it cool and it starts. Is there a common hot start issue for these engines based on crank or cam sensor failures?

Re: 1999 Concord wont start when hot

may be leaking injector or bad fuel pump may just be a reflash to pcm. put fuel pressure gauge on let turn key on dont start let fuel pressure stablize (45-50psi)turn key off and check the gauge in 15 minutes if it drops more than 20psi chrysler says it needs a fuel pump.(still it could be an injector leaking down) if it drops less than 20 psi the computer needs reflashed. you can check injectors by pulling injector rail up(injectors still connected to rail) turn key on and check to see what injector(s) are wet they are the leaking one(s)

Are crank or cam position sensors not a common failure item on these engines to cause this hot start issue like the 3.8L GM engines in the past?

Re: 1999 Concord wont start when hot

first off this a chrysler not a gm, its a hot soak start which will lead us to a fuel problem, fuel leak down or fuel atomizing prematurely (reflash the pcm) it could be a cam or crank sensor but that would led to a code being stored in pcm.

Re: 1999 Concord wont start when hot

First off. I never said or eluded to I though the Concord is a GM. I used the term "like" in comparing it to the symptom of the common GM 3.8L hot start crank sensor issue those engine had. Also, the ford powerstroke has a identical hot start issue with the Cam/ crank sensor. Most long time powerstroke owners including me carry a spare in their glove box.
