Talking New Here.. 66 Rivi Lowrider..

Hey all, I am new to posting around here. Use to do a lot of models as a kid/teen. Took a lot of years off. In the last year I have got back into the hobby and figured I would throw up a couple of my finished works.

This one I got the kit off ebay for like 8$ total (including shipping). The AMT 66 Riviera Lowrider. I figured it would be a good cheap one to get my feet wet again. The paint could be better. As well as the BMF. But like I said, its a first build in years. I also prefer Muscle cars, but at an 8$ price, I had to get it...

Thanks for taking a look. More to come in a bit...
-Bruce

Just masked it off and painted it after the white/orange was done. Up close it doesn't look so hot. But I figured for 8$ I would take some risks for the heck of it.

This is looking good! Love the paint job and the neat and tidy engine. Just a suggestion, if you could get some pegasus wire wheels and white wall tires that thing would look really nice! But its a great build!

Re: New Here.. 66 Rivi Lowrider..

may I make a suggestion for the pinstripe? well even if you don't want it, I'll make it anyway.

Try painting the color for the pinstripe first, then use 2 #11 blades glued, bolted together, somehow fitted together anyway, and cut some strips of masking tape with them so you have a piece of tape that is perfectly parralel on the sides to make your pinstripe. Then you lay it on the body where you want the stripe, and paint the rest of the car as usual. once the color is laid, peel the tape to expose a perfect pinstripe! then clear coat, and polish. this works GREAT, trust me.

oh, yeah, that rivi. looks great too. the wheels, well they are kit wheels, but don't look that bad.

Thats a cool trick. Wish I knew of it before I did this one. Thanks for the tip, will use that in the future for sure!
