Re: Too much Wheelspin!!!!!

Yes those Escorts are torque monsters. I'd suggest you remove a spark plug or two to bring those massive hp/tq numbers down to a more manageable, streetable level.

Are you serious? Please tell me you have a heavily modded escort so we don't have to flame you mercilessly

Re: Too much Wheelspin!!!!!

This might sound kinda obvious, but ease up on the skinny pedal a little bit. Hell, my truck will smoke them in 3 gears if I want to, but tires are just too damn expensive to keep doing that. Which motor in your escort? My wife had a tracer (mercury version of the escort) with the f*rd motor in it, thing was totally nutless. I've heard the mazda motor they started using has something to it though...

Re: Too much Wheelspin!!!!!

Give it a break guys, Elliott is a total troll, he's not even old enough to have a licence in the UK, let alone have an Escort with enough torque to break loose on anything other than ice.

Re: Too much Wheelspin!!!!!

leave the poor kid alone.
It's bad enough that he has to live in Milton Keynes.

Besides, pretty soon, he's going to show us nice pictures of his car and what's under the bonnet.

lol. Yeah I know, that was an interesting choice of words. That's still pretty torquey compared to a 3-cyl Geo Metro though.

If he thinks auto insurance in the U.K. is bad wait 'till he gets a ticket for having bald or slick tires and then he'll have to vent some more.

In the U.K. the minimum thread depth is 1.6mm. The penalties for having illegal tyres are currently up to a £2500 fine and 3 penalty points PER TYRE!

Ouch!!!

How does that funny looking "L" correlate to the U.S. $?

Any front wheel drive car will spin the tires in first gear. Was this really a serious complaint? My Beretta will spin the tires going into 2nd, and even chirp the tires going into 3rd if I drop the clutch (yeah, I got curious after reading this) it's a 100% stock 2.2l engine. There's no way that could be considered a built-up car, right?

Re: Too much Wheelspin!!!!!

Check the exchange rate, but I think now it corresponds to $6k a year for insurance. There's definately a problem there, unless insurance is outrageous in the UK.
